Coronavirus Scare: MC Baramulla orders shutdown of Public institutions

Baramulla: Hours after Deputy Commissioner Srinagar Dr. Shahid Iqbal Chowdary ordered the closure of all public institutions in Srinagar, The Municipal Council Baramulla also followed the same instruction and order same in Baramulla town to curb COVID-19 spread.


In an order copy which lies with Kashmir Despatch reads In exercise of powers conferred under Sec-128 and Sec -148 of Jammu & Kashmir Municipal Act 2000 and to take appropriate and immediate for prevention of Spread of ” COVtD-19″ Coronavirus declared as PANDEMIC by the WHO, it is hereby ordered that the Public Places, like Restaurants, Fast food stalls/ Dhabas, Gyms_Centres, Coaching institutions, Public parks Computer Institutes, etc are closed in Baramulla town till further orders.


Reports said amid the growing spare of covid-19, there is already a drop in the number of vehicles on the road and those using public transport. Very less number of people are visiting markets and other public places across the district.

In view of the COVID-19 threat, the government had ordered the closure of all educational institution including colleges, universities across Jammu’ and Kashmir, besides control rooms and surveillance teams have been constituted in all the districts of Union Territory besides two coronavirus lab testing facilities had already been made functional in SKIMS, Srinagar and GMC Jammu.


Pertinent to mention here at the same time, people are found to embrace the tips to ensure personal hygiene wholeheartedly. Many offices and homes are now equipped with handwash bottles and hand sanitizer bottles. There is such a high demand for them along with facial masks at medical shops that some of the pharmacy stores had reported a shortage.
