Baramulla,June 18: Deputy Commissioner Baramulla Bhupinder Kumar chaired district level Export Promotion Committee meeting in his office chamber in order to discuss various measures for boosting exports of various products which are being produced or manufactured in the district.
Meeting was attended by Managing Director JK Trade Promotion Organisation Ankita Kar, Joint Director Planning, Area Marketing Officer, General Manager District Industries Centre, Chief Agriculture Officer, Chief Horticulture Officer among other concerned functionaries.
A comprehensive discussion on the subject was held wherein various issues pertaining to the finalization of district export action plan were discussed. The meeting also took a holistic review of the identification of potential export products from the district during which the concerned officers presented their feedbacks about the range of products that are produced in bulk in the district.
Speaking on the occasion, the DC emphasized to identify all types of bottlenecks and impediments and directed to adopt a coordinated approach for sorting them out in a stipulated time bound manner. He also directed to create subgroups for each identified potential export product involving stakeholders like manufacturers, artisans and exporters.
The DC also directed to identify about 20 local exporters from each horticulture division who shall be empowered to directly export their products to foreign markets. He said that such a practice will help to eliminate the intermediaries thereby maximizing the profit of exporters.
Meanwhile, the Managing Director informed that a special registration drive shall be conducted in coming days in which local exporters shall be registered so that they can specifically export their products in a hassle free manner. She added that Baramulla district is one of the leading districts with a large of registered unit holders adding that the district has immense potential from trade and export point of view.
