DGP Sanctions Over Rs. 1.52 Cr. As Special Welfare Relief for NoKs of Deceased Police Personnel

Srinagar Jun 18 : With an aim to provide financial succor to the families of the police personnel who were slain in action or have passed away of illness or naturally while in service, the Director General of Police, J&K, Dilbag Singh has sanctioned over rupees 1.52 crore as Special Welfare Relief for Next-of-Kins of such police personnel.

Vide an order of PHQ Special Welfare Relief of rupees 22 lakh has been sanctioned in favour of dependents/legal heirs of Selection Grade Constable Safiullah Qadri who was killed in a militant attack.

Similarly the special welfare relief of rupees 22 lakh each has been sanctioned in favour of dependents/legal heirs of deceased ASI Mohammad Hussain, HC Javid Ahmad SgCts Amina Akhtar, Darbesh Kumar, Follower Ghulam Qadir. Special welfare relief of rupees 20 lakh has been sanctioned in favour of dependents/legal heirs of SgCt Mohammad Roshan and Follower Pawan Kumar. The deceased personnel passed away due to illness/natural death while in service.

Rupees one lakh each has already been paid to NoKs of these deceased police personnel for performing last rites through their concerned units. The Special Welfare Relief is sanctioned out of Contributory Police Welfare Funds.

Police Headquarters is running many schemes for the welfare of its personnel and their families. There are also schemes for the wards of Police personnel and SPOs. Besides, there are schemes for the NoKs of those slain in action, their wards and also for the retired police personnel and their spouses.
