Srinagar/Jammu : Authorities have on Thursday accorded sanction into the constitution of District Level Committees to ensure facilitation of street vendors in Jammu and Kashmir.
An order in this regard, of which a copy lies with Kashmir Despatch, reads that “Sanction is hereby accorded to the constitution of District Level Committee(s) for ensuring provision of an enabling environment for Street Vendors to carry on their businesses free from undue harrassment in the Union territory of Jammu and Kashmir.”
The Committee(s) to be overlooked by District Magistrate as Chairman will have three other members including District Superintendent of Police, Traffic Incharge in the district, Joint Commissioner/CEO/EO of concerned Municipal Corporation/Council/Committee and Two Representatives of Street vendors.
“The Committee(s) shall ensure that street vendors are not unduly harrassed/evicted by the civil society, police, traffic police and other law-enforcing agencies from the allotted sites/vending zones earmarked in each district and take corrective measures in this regard”, the order reads.
