Doctor Slips away from hospital amid Medical emergency in Baramulla leaves patient to die

Kreeri, June 02 : An on-duty doctor has allegedly left the hospital during duty hours without permission even as a pregnant lady was brought to hospital for an emergency surgery in Sub District Hospital Kreeri , Putting her life in danger.

The patient according to hospital authorities was later shifted to Baramulla owing to serious condition.

Sources told news agency that Consultant Anesthetist at SDH Kreeri Dr.Ishtiyaq Ahmad Wani left the hospital on Monday without permission from BMO even as a pregnent lady had been brought to hospital and required an emergency surgery.

The sources said that without the anesthetist, the concerned gynocologist could not undertake surgery risking the lives of both patient and the yet to be born infant.


The BMO Kreeri told news agency that the concerned doctor didn’t seek permission from him and left the hospital even during duty hours. He said he has written to Deputy Commissioner for necessary action.


Meanwhile Deputy Commissioner Baramulla has ordered an enquiry into the conduct of the doctor and has asked Tehsildar Kreeri to submit the report till Wednesday.


“Whereas the behavior of the doctor is unbecoming and tentamount to indiscipline which warrants strict action.” reads the enquiry order of the Deputy Commissioner Baramulla.
