Police in Baramulla on Tuesday claimed to have arrested one drug peddler in the district and recovered 500 grams of contraband Charas-like substance along with cash ₹ 6000/ from his possession.
In a statement issued to Kashmir Despatch police said, on routine patrolling in village Hardshura Kunzer, Police under the supervision of Sh. Hilal Khaliq-JKPS SDPO Tangmarg assisted by Inspr. Nisar Ahmad, SHO PS Kunzer noticed suspicious movement of an individual who was carrying a polythene bag.
After noticing the police patrolling party he tried to run away but was tactfully apprehended.
During a search of the polythene bag, 18 sticks of contraband charas-like substance wrapped in maize peelings weighing about 500 grams and cash ₹ 6000/- was recovered from his personal search.
During questioning, the individual disclosed his name as Farooq Ahmad Mir S/O Ghulam Mohi-ud-Din Mir R/O Zaspora Tangmarg and was taken into custody.
A case under NDPS Act was registered in Police Station Kunzer and an investigation was set in motion.
