Kupwara: A leopard that entered a shed where sheep were housed has killed ten sheep in north Kashmir’s Kupwara District on Monday night officials said.
An official told Kashmir Despatch that the incident took place at Tareyain area of Gundi Gujran village of Karnah at the sheep shed belonging to Lal Din son of Sitar Mohammad yesterday night.
Speaking to Kashmir Despatch, the Din said that out of 43 sheep, around ten were killed, three were injured, and one was missing.
He, while rolling down tears, said, “I don’t have any other source; these sheep were my only income for survival. I appealed to the local authorities to look into this unfortunate incident so that he could bear this huge loss.”
Meanwhile, police took cognizance of this incident.
Pertinently, this episode has caused a sense of fear among the locals and has appealed to the forest department to look into it so that they can have a sign of relief.
