Ensure availability of ration, road connectivity, other basic facilities to people Congress tells Govt

Srinagar Jan 20. The Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) has sought redressal of grievances concerning people, saying that Govt has failed to ensure basic facilities to people. Laying emphasizes over ensuring electricity, road connectivity, availability of ration and other required basic facilities to people, on priority basis.

As per the statement isssued to Kashmir Despatch, J&K Pradesh Congress Committee organized an important meeting of District Congress Committee Members, contesting candidates, newly elected DDC Members, BDC Chairmen, MC Presidents and other senior leaders of Anantnag and Kulgam District today and resolved to continue to fight against the discrimination and exploitation against the people of J&K, who have witnessed different experiments and wrong policies adopted by the BJP Govt, from time to time.

The meeting was presided over by JKPCC President G.A. Mir.

Those who addressed the meeting including DCC Presidents & Ex. MLA Gulzar Ahmad Wani and Farooq Ahmad Bhat, Anyatullah Rather, Mohd Iqbal Ahanger, Shabir Ahmad Dar, Ch. Akhter Kasana, Shaheena Neda and others.

The meeting expressed serious concern over the difficulties confronting people due to the current harsh winter and said that despite the repeated appeals, the supply of electricity has remained unsatisfactory, many important roads in extreme far flung areas in South Kashmir especially Anantnag and Kulgam are yet to be cleared, as a result, people are living a difficult life and want an end to their miseries.

Addressing the meeting JKPCC President G.A. Mir said that Congress Party feels duty bound to work for the wellbeing of the people, as that, the Party is an instrument of service to the people, it shall continue to remain at the forefront to highlight the genuine needs concerning people for their resolutions.

Referring to the current situation, PCC President said that situation in the country is different now, as that democratic institutions are under threat, saner voices are being muzzled by the BJP and its offshoots , which is matter of serious concern Mir rued and pledged to defeat such mindset sternly, G.A Mir rued.

it is the duty of every right thinking persons to raise his/her voice against these undemocratic policies to ensure that there is no damage to very foundation of the country, Mir added and said Congress has strengthened the democratic set up of the country, it shall continue to work in that direction, despite the coercion and other pressure tactics by the ruling BJP.
On this occasion, JKPCC President urged the Centre to start the developmental process in J&K, which has come to stand still since the BJP assumed power at Centre.

Mere tall claims and running paper horses with regard to wellbeing of the people and development of J&K won’t serve any purpose, there is a need to address the developmental issues, rising unemployment and other major issues concerning people, Mir said.
