Srinagar, Dec 11 : To promote the significance of the National Bird, the peacock, in the union territory of Jammu and Kashmir, eminent author, environmentalist, nature artist, and former Additional Advocate General of Punjab Harpreet Sandhu recently presented his pictorial artwork titled “Pride of Peacock is Glory of India” to Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, and Chief Justice of the High Court of Jammu, Kashmir, and Ladakh, Justice Tashi Rabstan.
In an interview with Kashmir Despatch, Advocate Harpreet Sandhu shared that he recently visited Kashmir with a creative vision to enhance awareness about the conservation of the National Bird through his artwork, “Pride of Peacock – Glory of India.” He emphasized his goal to promote cultural exchange and highlight the vital connection between humans and nature.
Advocate Sandhu underscored the role of art in connecting communities and inspiring collaborative efforts to preserve India’s rich biodiversity and cultural identity. He stated that through his artwork, he aims to amplify the messages of environmental conservation and cultural pride, encouraging initiatives designed to protect this heritage. He believes that this effort will strengthen Jammu and Kashmir’s ties to the broader national narrative regarding the importance of the peacock as India’s National Bird, transforming it into an educational and cultural subject by bringing “Pride of Peacock – Glory of India” to the forefront.
He expressed his intention to evoke a sense of pride and awareness among Indian citizens about the natural beauty of the peacock, which embodies grace, vibrancy, and spirituality. The primary purpose of this pictorial work extends beyond mere visual appreciation; it seeks to foster a deeper connection between humanity and nature. By meticulously showcasing the peacock’s mesmerizing colors, elegant movements, and its cultural significance in Indian mythology, art, and traditions, this compilation serves as a gentle reminder of our duty to preserve and cherish such natural wonders.
