Sopore, Sep 15 : The residents of three villages in Sopore area of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district here have expressed resentment against the Power Development Department (PDD) for failing to provide adequate electricity to them.

Inhabitants of Bohripora, Seloo and Shangergund villages of Sopore, said that they are being forced to reel under darkness.

“Our villages fall under the Sub-Division third and are witnessing unprecedented power crises from a long period,” the locals said, adding that people here have suffered badly due to the erratic power supply.

The residents accused the PDD officials of ignoring their plights and demanded immediate redressal of their grievances.

“Authorities have completely neglected us. We are being forced to reel under darkness,” they said, adding that the department is not even bothering to adhere to the power schedule.

They added that students in these villages are the worst sufferers as they are not able to study from evening hours, appealing the authorities concerned to look into the matter at an earliest.

However, Power Development Department (PDD) officials couldn’t be contacted for the comments as they didn’t receive the repeated calls from this reporter—(KNO)
