Bandipora, Oct 31: To promote young school children in sports activities, International Delhi Public School in North Kashmir’s Bandipora district Sunday held a day long welcome event for Tajamul Islam, a 13-year-old kickboxer, who won the gold medal in the U-14 category at World Kickboxing Championship in Cairo, Egypt on October 22.
Tajamul is the first Kashmiri girl to have represented India in the competition, which took place from October 18-24. she defeated Argentina’s Lalina in the final.
In addition to encouraging and congratulating the Tajamal Islam, younger students present in the event have also been encouraged to become athlete like her.
Fayaz Ahmad who is chairman of the IDPS while welcoming Tajamul and other audiences, congratulated the young champion for her success and wished her best for the future. “We need more international champions like Tajamul here who made the people of Kashmir as well as the whole of India proud, ” he said, adding that he will always stand side by side with her.
The world champion Tajamul while addressing the audience said that it is a proud moment to win Gold in World Kickboxing Championship for the second time and hard work can make anything possible. She also thanked the Chairman IDPS for hosting the event for her. Futhermore, Tajmal has rewarded parents for encouraging their children to do whatever they want.
Among others, Hashim manzoor youth Asian karatee champion, Fasial Nazir President of J&K Kudo association, Syed Sajid President of Al-jawad academy and Manzoor ahmad Dar international coach were present on the occasion.
