Srinagar, June 07 : Despite the appeals from many aspirants to delay the Supervisor post exam in the Social Welfare Department, the exam conducting body has firmly decided to proceed with the exam on the already announced dates.
Speaking with Kashmir Despatch, Chairman of the JK Service Selection Recruitment Board (SSRB), Rajesh Sharma, emphasized that aspirants had ample time to prepare following the job advertisement. The Supervisor post exam is set for June 23 and 24, 2024.
“The exam will be conducted for 186 positions with around 1.40 lakh aspirants. We’ve received numerous emails from candidates urging us not to defer the exam,” Sharma told Kashmir Despatch.
Initially, several aspirants requested a one-month deferment, arguing that they lacked sufficient preparation time. “We applied for the posts in March 2024 and still need more time to prepare,” one aspirant stated.
The recruitment notification was issued by JKSSB in December 2023, with the syllabus released in mid-January 2024. The online portal for application submission reopened in March 2024, allowing recent graduates to apply, and remained open until March 19, 2024.
“The syllabus is extensive and difficult to cover in such a short period,” the aspirants said, adding that they approached JKSSB to request a one-month delay to better prepare, but their pleas went unheard.
Chairman JKSSB clarified that the application portal was reopened in March to allow candidates to correct their forms, which also enabled new applicants. “Those who applied in March are now asking for a deferment,” he explained.
Out of the 1.40 lakh aspirants, around 1.38 lakh prefer to have the exam as scheduled, while only 2,000 aspirants, who applied in March, are seeking a delay.
“Candidates who applied in December want the exam to proceed on time. We begin our exam preparations a month in advance, coordinating with the district administration. Everything is set, and we cannot defer the exam,” Sharma stated. He assured that sufficient time was provided for preparation.
Some aspirants have expressed concerns about the exam dates clashing with their IGNOU exams and UGC-NET preparations.
