Srinagar, June 07: In the recently held assembly elections, many voters made their dissatisfaction known by choosing the “None of the Above” (NOTA) option.
As per data available with Kashmir Despatch, in the Baramulla constituency alone, a total of 4,699 NOTA votes were cast, signaling a significant message from the electorate.
Sonawari led the way with 423 NOTA votes, followed by Langate with 415 and Bandipora with 396. Meanwhile, Gurez recorded the lowest NOTA votes in the Baramulla constituency.
Interestingly, 14 candidates received fewer than 4,200 votes each, indicating that a substantial number of voters preferred NOTA over several candidates.
This notable number of NOTA votes highlights a clear sentiment among voters and underscores the need for addressing their concerns in future elections.
Pertinently, Jailed Leader Abdul Rashid Sheikh, aka Er Rashid, won comfortably in the Lok Sabha Elections 2024 from Baramulla Parliamentary Constituency.
