BANDIPORA, July 23: First ever football tournament under lights continues in SK Stadium of North Kashmir’s Bandipora district.
Total 32 teams from different districts of the valley participated in the 8th Sayed Hashmee football memorial cup Bandipora .The tournament was organized by Hashmi football club Bandipora in 2019 due to Covid-19 the tournament gets a break of two years.
The tournament was started in 2019 in first phase of tournament 24 local teams of a district played, in second round of tournament eight teams from outside district and 16 teams of inter district participated, Arco FC becomes first team who qualify for finals of the tournament, second semi final of the tournament will be played on 29 of July between Jamal FC and Hashmi football club Bandipora.
While talking to Kashmir Despatch, Tournament mentor of Hashmi football club , Imran Hashmee congratulated and wished luck to all the participating teams and teams who have qualified for semi-finals.
He said the tournament will provide a platform for the youths of the valley to showcase their talent on a bigger stage.
All the teams have undoubtedly shown zeal, enthusiasm and sportsman spirit throughout the competition which indeed shows their passion for sports.
Thousands of spectators turned out in support of their favourite teams in SK Stadium Bandipora at evening time.
“The aim of organizing these tournaments is to keep interest of youth in sports and promoting it helps to keep the youth away from epidemics like drugs,” he added.
