Bandipora, Sep 08: Former MLA and senior political leader Usman Majid on Sunday released his manifesto for the assembly election with ten promises, including enhanced road connectivity of the district via road and train, education and empowerment of youths, infrastructure development, economic development, a GMC for Bandipora, women empowerment, development of tourist places, and preserving the environment in the district.
Addressing the media at his residence in Bandipora, Majid said that the manifesto is carefully crafted and will be achievable, unlike a manifesto that remains the same until the end of five years.
This will be my fifth election as an independent candidate. I hope the people of Bandipora will choose me and give me the opportunity to serve them again. “The delimitation was an injustice to the people of Bandipora; the poor people of Bandipora did not even know where they had to go for their work.”
“These five years will be crucial for the people of Bandipora. If they make a mistake, it will set us back 20 years. I request the people of Bandipora to choose the right candidate who will raise their voices.” “There was a rumor about me that if I get elected, I will join the BJP, but I want to make it clear that my party is my workers, and I will speak to them before I can join any party in the future, and it will be their decision,” he clarified.
He also said that he was not backed by any former politicians since he got elected, and he had worked for the betterment of the people of Bandipora and will continue to do so. “Politicians who served as chief ministers in Kashmir at the time of development were busy in India-Pakistan talks, where their words did not matter until the center wanted to talk.”
“The manifesto has been carefully crafted by speaking with every section of the people, including students, the business community, the tribal community, the fisherman community, and unemployed educated youths. They believe in me, and I promise that their suggestions will be achievable if I get elected. I will fight with the BJP for these demands of my people.”
He further said that the education sector will be his priority, on which he will work, as it is the only source for the people of Bandipora, for which Bandipora is known, and says that if elected, they will raise a voice for women and private colleges in the district. “We need to connect the places where we have tourism potential, as it will increase job opportunities for our youths.”
“Wular is deteriorating day by day. It is the source of income for thousands of our fisherman community, but it is losing its shine, and I will fight to preserve it for our future generations,” he further added.
