Baramulla: At least four families became homeless last night after a massive fire engulfed Naganari area of Boniyar in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district.
Locals told Kashmir Despatch fire broke out at around 7.00 P.M on Tuesday which rapidly expanding to the nearby houses resulting in complete damage of around 4 structures in the devastating inferno and property estimated to be worth lakhs was damaged in the inferno which left no known casualties.
They (inhabitants) talking with this Correspondent said that once the news spread in the area people in large numbers especially youth reached the spot and started rescue operations, carrying water in buckets and other utensils to douse the rising flames. However, their efforts failed to yield any results till the fire spread in the locality, locals alleged that a minor fire incident engulfed four residential houses as fire service team failed to reach on time which proves the irresponsible attitude of the department.
In the devastating mishap, four families including Ghulam Ahmed Parray , Manzoor Ahmed Parray, and Abdul Aziz Parray became homeless as their houses were completely damaged in the incident.
Wailing and moaning women were seen sitting on the debris of their houses, while shedding tears from their eyes said to Kashmir Despatch that we are homeless, our whole struggle of whole life turned into ashes. They said whatever we had inherited has gone as now everything is black.
While visiting the spot Tehsildar Boniyar along with other officers took stock of damaged structures and assured affected families for providing all possible help as immediate relief.
Others who took stock of this fire mishap including officials from Animal Husbandry, who also assured people for all possible support.
