Sarpanchs, Panch of Border Town Uri Protest, Seek Stability

Srinagar : Elected representatives from panchayat bodies from border town Uri in North Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Wednesday held a demonstration to demand financial stability and administrative powers related to developmental works for rural areas.

Reports reaching Kashmir Despatch said scores of sarpanches, Panches from Many villages of Uri town on Wednesday up in arms against the administration for failure to fulfill their needs and demands which were allotted to them when elected.

The protesting elected representatives while demanding stability said that after we were elected none of the work has been completed in our areas due to the neglecting attitude of the administration towards we elected representatives.

They alleged officers in R&B, Other civil departments who as per protesting representatives are playing hide & seek for fulfilling the commitments which Govt. granted to them.

The protesting body while threatening to go for resignation if their demands will not be redressed at earliest.

They, however, appealed to DC Baramulla Dr G.N Ittoo to look into their genuine grievances so that they can work for the betterment of people who elected them.
