A gunfight broke out in Rajwara Wader a forest area of North Kashmir’s Kupwara district between militants and forces.
Reports reaching Kashmir Despatch said that a joint team of army’s 21 RR, 9 Para , SOG and 92 CRPF launched cordon and search operation in Rajwara Wader area of Kupwara after having credible input about presence of some militants in the area.
As the joint team of forces approached the suspected spot the hiding militants fired upon searching party triggering an encounter.
As per reports two militants are believed to be trapped.
A police officer also confirmed to Kashmir Despatch and said contact has been established with hiding militants and firing from both sides is on.
Till this report was filed intermittent firing was going on.
