Shopian, November 10: Encounter broke out between militants and government forces in Kutpora area in South Kashmir’s Shopian district in the wee hours of Tuesday.
Reports reaching Kashmir Despatch that a joint team of Army, Police and CRPF launched a cordon and search operation in Kutpora Shopian on Monday night following inputs about the presence of some militants in the area.
As the joint team of forces approached towards the suspected spot, the hiding militants fired upon the forces, triggering off an gunfight.
A senior police officer also confirmed to Kashmir Despatch about exchange of firing between militants and security forces.
