Gunfight rages in Tral

Srinagar, January 05:(GNS) Fierce Gunfight broke out between militants and goverment forces in Aripal area of Tral in South Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Saturday morning.

Reports reaching GNS said that a joint team of army’s 42RR, 180 CRPF and SOG Awantipora launched cordon and search operation in Aripal after having credible input about presence of some militants in the area.

As the joint team of forces intensified searches towards suspected spot after firing some warning shots, the hiding militants fired upon goverment forces triggering an encounter.

A senior Police official told GNS that contact has been established with the hiding militants and exchange of firing is going on.

As per the sources one of the trapped militant is believed to be top commander of Hizb.

Meanwhile internet has been suspended in the Pulwama district.(GNS)
