Gupkar Declaration takes formal shape

SRINAGAR, Oct 24 : People’s Alliance for Gupkar Declaration on Saturday gave it a formal structure with Farooq Abdullah and Mehbooba Mufti its president and vice president, respectively, Sajad Lone as spokesman, NC MP Hasnain Masoodi as coordinator and CPIM leader MY Tarigami as its convener.

As per Kashmir Despatch Correspondent, an important meet of the leaders of peoples alliance took place at Gupkar residence of former chief minister Jammu and Kashmir Mehbooba Mufti in which an important decision to transform the people’ s alliance for Gupkar Declaration into a formal structure to carry it forward with proper nomenclature of a moment.

Pertinent to mention here , Last week six mainstream parties held a meeting and formed an alliance for restoration of the special status of the erstwhile state as it existed before August 5 last year.

Meanwhile, after the meeting Farooq Abdullah said, ” It’s not an anti-national Jamat, our aim is to ensure that the rights of people of J&K and Ladakh are restored. Attempts of  dividing us in the name of religion will fail. It’s not a religious fight.

Talking with media, Sajad Lone said it was decided the flag of erstwhile Jammu and Kashmir State will be the symbol of the group.

Lone said that the next meeting of the group will be held in Jammu within two weeks. He added that the group has decided to come up with a document on lies being spread against people of Jammu and Kashmir.

Former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti on Friday said that: “I used to fight election within the Constitution and now it’s not there.”

She however, has sought cooperation from people to fight for what has been robbed from them. “I or Farooq Sahab, Sajad Gani Lone or Omar Sahab can’t fight it alone, till people support us. It is a long drawn battle and we have be firm. They can’t break our resolve,” she has said adding that people of Jammu and Kashmir are expendable for them (India) as they want the territory.
