Srinagar, Dec 04 : Even as the government assured every possible support to the newly elected Panchs and Sarpnachs across Jammu and Kashmir, but the administration has utterly failed to even announce ex-gratia to the slain Sarpanch killed in a grenade explosion on November 26 in Hakura area of South Kashmir’s Anantnag district.

The Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir, Girish Chandra Murmu on November 29 announced special ex-gratia of Rs 30 lakhs to the slain government employee, killed in the Hakura grenade attack.

According to the wire service—, the relatives of Sarpanch said that no ex-gratia to next of kins of slain Sarpanch was so far announced by the government.

Official sources said that the administration will soon disburse the ex-gratia to the next of kins of slain Sarpanch, adding that not only to the slain Sarpanch, but NoKs of those killed in different incidents of grenade explosions so far since August 5, have not been provided any ex-gratia so far.

However, one of the recently elected Sarpanch from South Kashmir told KNO, that the government should provide ex-gratia to the slain Sarpanch’s family at an earliest. “We have also approached the concerned officials, demanding immediate ex-gratia to the NoKs of slain Sarpanch, but unfortunately, the government is yet announce anything in this regard, leaving the family of slain to lurch at large,” he said.

Official sources in the divisional administration said that the Lieutenant Governor has already directed the concerned officials to expedite the work in this regard and ensure the ex-gratia to the NoKs of slain Sarpanch will be given at an earliest.

Meanwhile, Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Baseer Ahmad Khan said that the ex-gratia to the deceased family will be provided soon, adding the process has already been started in this regard. (KNO)
