Sopore, Feb 17 : The sub district hospital in north Kashmir’s Sopore area is headless more than a month now, affecting not only healthcare but administrative affairs of the hospital. The hospital caters to dozens of villages in its catchment.
As per Kashmir Despatch Correspondent, The locals complained that from last one month the hospital is without a block medical officer affecting the smooth functioning of the hospital.
“SDH is supposed to be headed by a medical officer but unfortunately SDH Sopore is headless since last one month. The absence of the BMO has badly hit the affairs of the hospital as a result of which both the doctors and para-medics posted at the facility suffer,” a doctor posted at SDH Sopore said.
Meanwhile Sopore councilor Irfan Ali has requested the top healthcare officials and district administration to appoint a Block Medical Officer at SDH Sopore.
“There are dozens of issues pertaining to SDH Sopore that were supposed to be tackled by a medical officer. But when there is no official heading the hospital, how can they handle other issues. I appeal the senior health officials and district administration to appoint a block medical officer for the smooth functioning of the hospital,” Irfan added.
The former BMO Dr. Asif Khanday left the SDH Sopore in the month of January 2021 while as Dr. Aadil Kangoo was reportedly supposed to join as new BMO SDH Sopore and an order was issued for the same on 29th January, 2021.
Reports reaching Kashmir Despatch said that Dr. Aadil Kangoo has not joined the duties till date for reasons unknown.
