Srinagar : The curbs on high speed internet in Jammu and Kashmir completed eight months on Sunday.
All forms of communication including land-line and post paid phones were shut down in Kashmir valley on August 5 after India revoked the special status of Jammu and Kashmir.
Fearing dissent from people, the government not only barred connectivity, but also detained hundreds including three former chief ministers of the Union territory and imposed a strict curfew.
While Omar Abdullah and his father were released recently, PDP president Mehbooba Mufti along with hundreds of others continue to remain under detention.
While, land-line connectivity was restored few weeks after the decision was taken, mobile phones started to buzz again after over 70 days.
On the other hand, low speed internet was resumed after six months, the curbs on high speed internet continue till this day in Jammu and Kashmir
