Ganderbal, June 4: Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kashmir Zone, V.K. Birdi, on Thursday reviewed security and logistical arrangements at the Baltal base camp in preparation for the forthcoming Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra 2026.
Accompanied by Rajiv Pandey and Sudhanshu Dhama, the IGP inspected various facilities being established for personnel of the Jammu and Kashmir Police and Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) deployed for yatra duties.
During the visit, the officers assessed accommodation facilities, security infrastructure, communication systems, and other essential arrangements aimed at ensuring smooth functioning during the annual pilgrimage.
The IGP stressed the importance of coordinated efforts among all departments and agencies involved in the yatra, directing officers to maintain a high level of preparedness and complete all necessary arrangements well before the commencement of the pilgrimage.
Officials said security measures along the Baltal route and other yatra-related locations are being strengthened as part of a comprehensive security plan.
Authorities have also intensified preparedness exercises to ensure the safety and convenience of devotees expected to participate in large numbers.
The Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra is one of the most significant annual pilgrimages in Jammu and Kashmir, attracting thousands of pilgrims from across the country each year. Security agencies and civil administration are working in close coordination to ensure the peaceful and successful conduct of the pilgrimage.
