Police Party Attacked By Mob over COVID-19 Lockdown

Bandipora, April 17 : Yet again the ill behaviour of public came into being when hundreds of people disobeyed the procedural protocol and guidelines of world health organization (WHO) and MHA and assembled at Jamia Masjid Ganstan in North Kashmir’s Bandipora to offer Friday congregational prayers.
Reports reaching Kashmir Despatch said as soon as people gathered to offer Friday prayers, a team of police arrived on spot to disperse the assembly in masjid amid COVID-19 threats looming in district, (Already Bandipora has been declared as hotspot of COVID-19).
Reports added as soon as police reached to the spot, the assembled gathering amid sloganeening pelted stones on them resulting injuries to several policemen.
Meanwhile SSP Bandipora Rahul Malik when contacted told, on reports of Friday gathering in Ganstan, a team of police and magistrate reached the spot stone pelting took place. He said police used mild force to disperse the crowd. Officer said 16 violaters were detailed from the spot for violating the norms and guidelines of government. Officer said a case has been registered under relevant sections of law and a necessary legal action has been initiated.
It is pertinent to mention here, this Ill behaviour and irresponsibleness and lack of understanding proved that Bandipora is likely to suffer more in terms of COVID-19 victims as of now district is already topping the chart with figures till date 76 including a deceased.
