JKECC calls on LG Sinha

Srinagar, 09 May : In yet another pathbreaking development in the trade unionism history of Jammu and Kashmir, a high level delegation of JKECC met His Excellency Lieutenant Governor JKUT Shri Manoj Sinha at Raj Bhawan Srinagar today.The delegation was headed by Shah Fayaz President JKECC and Chairman JKTA. The delegation presented a memorandum of various issues and demands on behalf of the employee fraternity of JK UT before the esteemed Lieutenant Governor.

Shah Fayaz in a cordial conversation with His Excellency LG JKUT highlighted the major issues and concerns of the Employees in a very conducive manner. The major issues that were brought to the kind notice of the honourable LG include:

  1. Restoration of the Old Pension Scheme ( OPS) and scrapping of NPS in favour of employees of Jammu and Kashmir UT.
  2. Constitution of 8th Pay Commission and Permanent National Commission to look into the pay enhancement of employees which is long due.
  3. Enhancement of Pay Grade of employees at par with those of the other Union Territories as Jammu and Kashmir is now a Union Territory and employees deserve equal salary as that of employees of other UTs of India.
  4. Liberty of drawing/ crediting salaries in banks other than the Jammu and Kashmir Bank. It is a major issue as the employees of JK UT are bound to credit and draw their salaries only through J and K Bank thus impeding their transactions with other banks.
  5. Framing of a comprehensive policy for regularisation of Casual Labours working in various departments over a long period of time on a meagre honorarium.
  6. Honorarium issue of CPWs working in the School Education Department and request for the settlement of the issue on humanitarian grounds.
  7. A comprehensive policy for transfer of the ReT teachers.
  8. Release of 4 months salary of MGNREGA employees withheld during the strike period.
  9. Framing of district level Departmental Promotion Committees (DPCs) in the Health Department in line with that of the Education Department.
  10. Framing of a robust policy for NYC employees and their regularisation besides the request for wage enhancement in their favour.
  11. Comprehensive policy for MGNREGA employees and enhancement of wages in their favour.
  12. Consideration of ATMA manpower in favour of the Agricultural Department and request for a 10% annual increment in their favour.
  13. Release of GP Fund bills of employees which are pending since a long time in the treasuries.
  14. Framing of a comprehensive policy for regularisation of Vocational Trainers and timely release of funds for a better implementation of Vocational subjects in line with the Provisions of the NEP 2020.
  15. Enhancement of wages of Rehber-e-Khel employees at par with those in the UT of Ladakh. ( 18000 from 6000 at present).
  16. Request for timely distribution of textbooks preferably a month before the commencement of new academic session.
  17. Implementation of separate academic sessions keeping in view the topography and climatic conditions.
  18. Enhancement of wages of Cooks working in the Education Department.
  19. Justice for Contractual Teachers
  20. Special Allowances for employees working in Border areas and other special areas of the UT.
  21. Accommodation issue of PM Package and minority community employees.
  22. Issue of AAYA’S working in the Education Department.

His Excellency the Honourable LG gave a patient ear to the delegation and assured that all the genuine issues will be taken up and settled on the basis of merit in a very short span of time.

The meeting concluded with a vote of thanks presented by Hatim Qayoom on behalf of JKECC to His Excellency LG for sparing some of his moments for the delegation and for smooth conduct of the meeting in a cordial and conducive atmosphere.
