JKPM President Feroze Peerzada threatens to file defamation case against Javed Mustafa Mir

Srinagar, September 27: J&K Peoples Movement President (JKPM) Feroze Peerzada has threatened to file a defamation case against former legislator Javed Mustafa Mir.

In a press statement, Feroze Peerzada said that after the resignation of Dr Shah Faesal and Javed Mustafa Mir from the basic membership of the party on 10 August 2020, JKPM State Council, the apex body of the party elected Feroze Peerzada as president of the party with the support of 22 out of 25 members.

“As soon as I was elected, an atmosphere of positivity spread across the rank and the file of party members. Thereafter while I was putting the party back on the track, Javed Mustafa approached me and requested us to take him back in the party but he put a condition on his joining that he should be made president of the party. In this regard, Javed Mustafa also approached Dr Shah Faesal who refused to intervene as Dr Faesal has left politics as well as the party”, Feroze said in his statement.

“I took sometime to think about Javed Mustafa request as I was sceptical. He had recently resigned from the membership if the party and now he wanted to come back in the party. But taking his experience as an ex-legislator and former minister into account and in the larger interest of unifying the party, I became ready to vacate the post of president in favour of Javed Mustafa. However, I made it clear that all the office bearer positions declared by the party will continue as such. Even I proposed that Javed Mustafa can also nominate additional office bearers from his side ”, Feroze said in his statement to media. This is corroborated by the letter bearing number JKPM/22/ Sep-2020 dated 21/ Sep/ 2020, a copy of which was provided to our media desk/ correspondent.

“I sent a letter dated 21 September 2020 to him recording my offer in writing, copies of which I have shared with media. Thus while I was willing to sacrifice the post of president in the interest of unity in the party, Javed Mustafa responded yesterday by falsely claiming to have become a president of the party and illegally expelling me and our senior vice president from the party. Both of us are founding members of the party and all party members including ex-president Dr Shah Faesal has acknowledged our contribution to the party”, Feroze said in his statement.

In his press statement, Feroze has questioned how can Javed Mustafa claim to be a president in the party without having re-joined the party. Feroze has also questioned how can Javed Mustafa expel founding members without following the disciplinary procedure as required under the party constitution.

“He has expelled us claiming we indulged in anti-party activities without explaining what amounted to anti-party activity. So, what antiparty activities is he talking about? Is sacrificing my post of president for the purpose of unity in the party an anti-party activity, then yes I have done anti-party activity”, Feroze said in his statement.

Feroze has further said that Javed Mustafa Mir left the party at a crucial juncture when the party needed him most as on the same day (10 August 2020) Dr Shah Faesal left the party. “While at that time we requested Javed Mustafa not to leave the party, but he was quite adamant. Now by illegally attempting to expel two founding members, he has brought disrepute to the image of the party and given a death blow to the unity effort. I am consulting my legal team and will soon take a decision on filing a defamation case against Javed Mustafa Mir”, Feroze said.
