Cop, CRPF men injured

Srinagar, May 19 : An MBA student turned militant Junaid Ashraf Sehrai, son of Tehreek-e-Hurriyat Chairman Mohammad Ashraf Sehrai killed along with his associate in a gunfight at Nawakadal area of Srinagar on Tuesday.
An official told Kashmir Despatch, acting on a specific information about the presence of some militants in Nawakadal locality , security forces launched a cordon and search operation.
He said hidding militants opened fire on searching party triggering a gunfight.
There was a lull in firing, prompting the police to initiate search operation at the encounter site, but it had to be suspended after firing resumed hours later, the official said.
He said in the exchange of fire two militants were killed, while a cop and CRPF trooper sustained injuries in the gunfight.
The officer said after recovering the bodies from the gunfight site one was identified as Junaid Sehrai, while the identification of other one is assertained.
Meanwhile, Inwake of this encounter authorities suspended Internet services as well as voice calls as except BNSL as a precautionary measure to maintain law and order problem in the district.
