Srinagar, June 22: Managing Director, Kashmir Power Distribution Corporation Limited (KPDCL), today reviewed the progress of power infrastructure and electricity arrangements being put in place for the smooth conduct of the forthcoming Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra (SANJY)-2026.
During a high-level review meeting, the MD assessed the status of ongoing works at various Yatra routes, base camps and associated facilities. Officials informed the meeting that significant progress has been achieved in strengthening the power network to ensure uninterrupted electricity supply for pilgrims, security forces and service providers during the annual pilgrimage.
The MD directed field engineers and officers to expedite the completion of all pending works within the stipulated timelines. He stressed the importance of maintaining reliable power supply at Baltal, Nunwan-Pahalgam and other key locations connected with the Yatra.
The meeting also reviewed the installation of transformers, laying of power cables, augmentation of distribution infrastructure and availability of backup power systems. Officials were instructed to conduct regular inspections and ensure that all electrical installations adhere to safety standards.
Emphasising coordination among various agencies, the MD said KPDCL is committed to providing seamless power supply throughout the pilgrimage period. He asked concerned officers to remain prepared for any contingencies and establish round-the-clock monitoring mechanisms during the Yatra.
The annual Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra is scheduled to commence in the coming weeks, with authorities making extensive preparations to facilitate a safe and comfortable pilgrimage for thousands of devotees expected to participate.
