SRINAGAR, Oct 26: After the success of its part one programme, Musuada Foundation (MF) Productions, a Non Governmental Organization has come up with ‘The Right Path-II’, an initiative to counsel the youth of Kashmir against the menace of drug addiction and the path of violence.

In a handout issued to Kashmir Despatch, a spokesman of the NGO, said that under the banner of ‘The Right Path’ a significant number of youth have been counseled and enlightened about the hazards of drug addiction and the path of violence that has eaten into the vitals of the society in Kashmir for the last many decades.

“This is a programme under which we make our youth aware about the dangerous implications of drug abuse and the gun culture. In the first part of this programme, we held around 50 counseling sessions in Kashmir especially in the South Kashmir wherein over 220 youth were rehabilitated after getting rid of the drug menace,” the spokesman added.

He added that it was very difficult for the youth initially to shun the old habits of drug abuse but after the sustained counseling they developed the will to quit this nuisance.

“It takes a strong will power and self discipline to achieve and maintain long term sobriety after the youth turn away from their old habits which usually die hard. Similarly, some youth tempted to take up the path of violence because of its seemingly adventurous glamour were also counseled and they have now returned to the normal course of their lives with a clear understanding about the dangerous ramifications of the gun culture,” the spokesman added.

He said that it is the endeavor of MF Productions not to make the youth feel alone in their journey for recovery. “We build strong relationships with the drug addicted youth during the journey till they are fully recuperated. Our programme helps the youth to recover from drug addiction and to learn how to live a productive life,” the MF Productions spokesman observed.
