Militant killed in ongoing Shopian gunfight

Shopian, Aug 19: One militant has been killed in an ongoing encounter that broke out between forces and militants in Moolu village of South Kashmir’s Shopian district on Wednesday.

The gunfight broke out  hours after the search operation which was launched by joint team of Army’s 44 RR, SOG and CRPF in Moolu village of Shopian.

An official told Kashmir Despatch that in the initial stage of firefight one militant has been killed, while operation is underway.

A police officer told Kashmir Despatch that as soon as joint teams approached towards the suspected spot, the hiding militants fired upon them, triggering an encounter.

The officer said sofar one militant has been killed.
