Militant killed in Saloosa gunfight, 2 others likely escaped, searches on

Baramulla, August 22: A militant has been killed while two others are reportedly escaped from the spot in Saloosa area of North Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Saturday.

Official sources informed Kashmir Despatch that in the initial stage of gunfight an unidentified militant was killed, while two others likely escaped from the site. The officer said searches in and around the vilage are underway.

A police officer told Kashmir Despatch that firing has been stopped soon after a militant was killed, he said searches are underway in the area. The officer however, said the identification of slain militant is yet to be ascertained.

Earlier in the day following inputs about the presence of suspecious movement a joint team of Army’s 52 RR, SOG and CRPF launched a cordon and search operation in the area.

Pertinently, earlier this week three militants were killed in a 32-hour long gunfight at Kreeri Baramulla.

While three security forces personnel were also killed after militants fired on Naka party in the area on the same day.
