KVK Ganderbal organized an Entrepreneurship Awareness Programme on ‘Promotion of Ornamental Fish Keeping as an enterprise for entrepreneurship development among youth of Ganderbal’ at KVK campus on 28th November 2024. The aim of this EAP was to nurture & motivate the budding youth to take up self-employment avenues like aquarium keeping for ensuring sustained economic growth, facilitating entrepreneurship development & ensuring better future.
The training is being sponsored by Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, Government of India, under the patronage of Prof. Nazir Ahmad Ganie, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor of SKUAST-K & Prof. Haroon A Naik (PPMO-SKUAST-K).
The programme started with welcome address by Dr. Suja Nabi Qureshi, Scientist KVK Ganderbal who also gave an outline regarding various Skill Development Initiatives. Prof. Ishfaq Abidi, Chief Scientist & Head gave a comprehensive overview regarding the Scope & Prospects of Ornamental Fish Keeping in Ganderbal & emphasized on inculcating a spirit of entrepreneurship among the youth of the District. He appraised the gathering about the benefits of aquarium fish keeping & shared the tips of maintaining a healthy aquarium environment. Dr. Abidi highlighted the importance of Ornamental Fish Keeping as a promising & profitable venture, which can help the youth to become self-reliant. On the occasion, Dr. Anayitullah Chesti, Head (Aquaculture Division, FoFy) gave a detailed PowerPoint presentation about ‘Fabrication, Care & Maintenance of Aquaria’. He emphasized the importance of proper feeding & water management for better returns.
The programme was attended by Scientists & Supporting Staff of KVK, Experts from Faculty of Fisheries (Rangil), students, entrepreneurs & local youth. The participants, particularly students and teachers expressed deep gratitude for the programme and wished for more programmes in future. The session concluded with formal vote of thanks by Dr. Faiqa Syeed.
