Narcotics worth crores recovered during investigation of weapon smuggling case Kupwara

Kupwara, Oct 18 : Security forces on Sunday claimed to have recovered large quantity of arms and ammunition in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district.

In a statement issued to Kashmir Despatch which reads, Acting upon a specific input, on 13.10.2020, a joint search operation was launched by Kupwara Police and Army 6 JAK Rifles which had culminated in the recovery of following arms and ammunition.

The recoveries including Pistols 05,Pistol magazines 10, Grenadea 05, 9 mm rounds 138.


In this regard a case FIR No. 78/2020,
U/s 7/25 Arms Act was registered in PS Karnah and thorough investigation taken up.

During the course of investigation three suspects namely,Tanveer Ahmed Khan s/o Ab Rashid Khan R/o Teetwal, Karnah, Sajad Ahmed Kakroo
S/o Bashir Ahmed Kakro of Gundishat, Zakir Hussain Shah son of Ali Haider Shah resident Takia, Bahadurkot were brought for questioning by Police in connection with their involvement in cross-border narco-weapon smuggling.

During sustained questioning and upon their disclosure five packets of Brown Sugar like substance weighing approx. 5.5 kgs have been recovered from the home courtyard of one of the accused namely Tanveer Ahmad Khan s/o Ab Rashid Khan R/o Teetwal, Karnah .

All the three accused have been arrested and further investigation u/s 8/21 and Ss 13, 18 and 39 UAPA Act is underway the statement reads.
