NC all set to grab MC President Sopore seat, BJP left wondering

Sopore, Jan 19 : A day after removal of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Municipal Council (MC) president in Sopore, National Conference is all set to grab the presidential seat setting a new trend in recently held elections.


While as opinion makers call it vote against BJP and it’s policies but it can’t be ruled out that BJP won a good number of seats in Sopore- once a hub of militancy.


In recently held Urban Local Body elections, National Conference (NC) won 11 seats, Independent Candidates won 2, Peoples Democratic Party 1, while rest of the seats were won by BJP in Sopore area of North Kashmir’s Baramulla district.

A senior NC leader from Sopore said that the time for BJP is over in Sopore and this is the time when something better is to be done for people here and the only party that can do that is National Conference and not BJP.

“Sopore will see the real development which they were promised but never fulfilled. We want to praise people of Sopore for coming forward for their participation in making a new beginning in the form of development,” he added.

Meanwhile, young political leader Irfan Ali who won on PDP seat believes that loss or win doesn’t matter but what matters is the development of Sopore and welfare of the people.
He said that he and his party will continue to work for the betterment of Sopore and aspire to make it Sopore ‘Apna London’.
