Night Volleyball tourney concludes in B, pora

Nadihal lifts trophy, defeats Ganderbal in finals

Srinagar : Amid high quality infrastructure, Sheikh Hamza volleyball championship night tournament, concluded here on Friday in Gundpora village of north Kashmir’s Bandipora district, making first of its kind in the district.

The final of the tournament was won by the Nadihal team by defeating Ganderbal Volleyball team in fifth set. A total of 18 teams of different Clubs of several districts participated in the tournament wherein Chief Planning Officer (CPO), Bandipora, Imtiyaz Ahmad was the chief guest of the closing ceremony.

The award-distribution ceremony was attended by Physical Education Master, department of youth services and sports Peerzada Khursheed Shaheen, noted physics lecturer Nayeem Ahmad Parray.

Peerzada khursheed Shaheen along with other dignitaries distributed cash trophies to the winners of the tournament.

On the occasion Khursheed Shaheen gave an overview of the sports activities and tournaments in the pipeline. In his address, he encouraged the youngsters to continue using their gifts of sportsmanship and also urged the participants to stand against drug abuse. He also mentioned that sports are the best means to eradicate social evils by positively channelising the energy of youth.

Meanwhile, the crowd was also witnessed cheering and encouraging the players of teams during the final match. They also appreciated the efforts of organizers and hoped that to more such events.
