No Kheer Bhawani Festival this year due to COVID-19

GANDERBAL: Amid the rapid growth of COVID-19 positive cases in Jammu and Kashmir, The annual festival of Mela Kheer Bhawani ( Maharagnya Bhagwati) at Tulmullah area in central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district stands canceled this year.

Sources told Kashmir Despatch the J&K Darmarth trust made it clear, that the reason for cancelling of annual festival is continuous increase in corona virus cases in the country.

Kashmir pandits from different parts of the country on every year thronged Tulmullah Ganderbal to celebrated their annual festival with great enthusiasm.

Every year on (Zyestha Ashtami) The temple was witnessed a huge gathering of devotees most of them Kashmiri Pandits, who have journeyed from across the country but this year due to continuing scare of COVID-19 the trust have cancelled the program due to the non-gathering of people in the festival.

The Kheer Bhawani Mela is one of the biggest religious functions of the displaced community.
