SRINAGAR, May 6: Reacting to the Sri Lanka army chief’s statement that people who carried out the April 21 serial bombings in his country had travelled to Kashmir and Kerala for the training, the J&K Police chief Dilbag Singh said there was no record to suggest that any of the bombers had visited Kashmir.

Media reports quoting Singh said that police have not received any information officially but the persons whose names appeared on social media have not travelled to Kashmir.

Earlier, the chief of Sri Lanka’s army said some of the people who carried out the April 21 serial bombings in his country had travelled to regions such as Kashmir and Kerala in India to possibly be part of “terrorism” training activities.

“They had gone to India, travelling to Bangalore, Kashmir and Kerala state, (according to) information available with us,” BBC quoted Senanayke as saying during the interview. Asked if he was aware of the purpose of those visits, the army commander replied: “It would have been for some sort of training or to establish links with other organisations outside the country”. On bombers’ motive to travel to India, the Sri Lankan Army commander told media that exact reason is not yet known.
