Nocturnal gunfight breaks out in Sopore

Sopore, Jun 20 : A nocturnal gunfight broke out between militants and government forces in Brath village of Sopore in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district.

Reports reaching the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that a joint team of Police, 22 Army and 177, 179 and 92 BN of CRPF launched a Cordon and Search Operation (CASO) in Brath village Tantray Mohalla.

They said that the hiding militants, however, fired upon the search forces, which was retaliated, thus leading to a gunfight.

Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Sopore said that the exchange of firing between militants and security forces is going on.

Meanwhile, Kashmir zone police in a tweet also confirmed that the encounter has been started. “#Encounter has started at Gund Brath area of #Sopore. Police and security forces are on the job. Further details shall follow,” Kashmir Zone Police tweeted—(KNO)
