Donates Her 38th Unit of Blood for a Noble Cause

Baramulla, Jan 01 : The most precious gift one can give to another person is the gift of life—specifically, blood. When this gift is given on the occasion of the New Year, it takes on special significance. Furthermore, it inspires remarkable change in society.
As people become engrossed in New Year celebrations, the “Daughter of North Kashmir has once again captured hearts by donating blood for a humanitarian cause this New Year.
Meet Bilquees Ara, who has made her mark through her longstanding commitment to noble efforts. On this New Year’s occasion, she donated her 38th pint of blood at GMC Baramulla.
In an exclusive conversation with Kashmir Despatch, Bilquees stated, “I preferred to celebrate the New Year by giving something to society, and donating blood is one of the best ways to do so. At least this blood can be used to save someone’s life.”
She pointed out that during New Year celebrations, people often enjoy going out, throwing parties, and celebrating with others, but hardly anyone thinks about giving something back to the community.
Bilquees emphasized that there is no better celebration than the ability to save someone’s life by donating blood to society.
She urged people to come forward for this noble cause, highlighting the need for greater participation in blood donation camps. “It is up to us to join hands for this cause,” she remarked.
She further added that Blood is a precious resource which has no substitute, and which cannot be made in a lab. Voluntary blood donations are the best gift you can ever give someone and will touch the lives of people in a way you can’t imagine. You may never know or see the patients who need your blood, but by donating you are saving lives she added.
Bilquees Ara, 35 years old, is a well-known figure in Gundchobtra Langate in northern Kashmir. For the past 12 years, she has served as an Accredited Social Health Activist (ASHA worker), helping villagers access essential healthcare schemes and services provided by the government.
Her work, which includes delivering first aid, providing antenatal care, arranging ambulance services for pregnant women and others in need, distributing sanitary napkins, issuing health insurance cards, and organizing health awareness campaigns in villages, has earned her respect and recognition within her community.
