Nov Snowfall: District Admin Bandipora Approves Rs 4.62 Cr Compensation For Affected Farmers

BANDIPORA, DECEMBER 27: The District administration Bandipora has approved Rs 4.62 crore compensation for the damages caused to the orchards and farms due to snowfall in November this year.

The orchardists and farmers suffered huge losses in the early November snowfall due to heavy damage to the crop as well as trees.

Deputy Commissioner Bandipora Dr Shahid Iqbal Choudhary said Rs 2.82 crore will be disbursed among orchardists as compensation for the fruits damaged during snowfall while Rs 1.80 crore will be disbursed among farmers for crop damage.

He said the departments of Horticulture and Agriculture has already identified the beneficiaries and the amount will be directly transferred in the accounts of the beneficiaries through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT). He said 70 percent of the process has been completed and the compensation will be disbursed at the earliest.

Earlier, the Deputy Commissioner reviewed the progress of the disbursement of compensation to the orchardists. The meeting was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner Bandipora Zahoor Ahmad Mir, Assistant Commissioner Revenue Reyaz Ahmad Beigh , Tehsildar Headquarters Mubashir Saleem Nazki, Chief Horticulture Officer, Chief Agriculture Officer and other senior officers of the district.

The officials informed the meeting that the list of the beneficiaries has been prepared and the amount will be transferred soon after the department gets the account numbers of all the beneficiaries.

Dr Choudhary directed the officials to expedite the process and disburse the amount at the earliest.
