Srinagar, May 21: In a tragic road mishap a 40-year-old man from Srinagar died after hit by a landslide along the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway in Ramban district on Wednesday night.
Reports reaching Kashmir Despatch said a 40-year-old man identified as Nazir Ahmad of Srinagar was hit by a landslide on the Jammu-Srinagar national highway at Khoni Nallah in Ramban district.
Reports said a group of stranded people were on the way home from Hyderabad, however after reached Khoni nallah in Ramban district, the bus was stopped due to fresh landslide and in between Nazir came out from the bus and suddenly was hit by a rock and fell into deep george.
Talking with Kashmir Despatch over the phone, a student who is also part of this group said we are stuck here at Khoni Nallah as the body is lying on the ground we don’t know whether he is dead or alive, he said we called the police also but as of now on one came here for the rescue.
Meanwhile, a police officer based at Ramban told Kashmir Despatch that a team reached on the spot and rescue operation has been started to retrieve the body from the nallah.
