Says in ensuing elections people of state have to reveal how passionate they are about their unique identity

Srinagar, 28 July 2019: Jammu and Kashmir National Conference President and Member of Parliament from Srinagar Dr Farooq Abdullah on Sunday said the party won’t allow any changes in the demography of the state, saying that any attempt to dilute the unique identity of the state will be resisted.

Party president while addressing party functionaries, workers at Saloora Ganderbal said the unique character of the state has been a scorn in the eyes of those forces that are inimical to the very identity and integrity of our state. “There are forces whose sole agenda is to dilute the very pluralistic fabric of our state. It was PDP that allowed the fascists to make inroads in our state. Unfortunately such forces as are inimical to the identity of our state are using local henchmen to pursue their agenda. The mushrooming of political outfits in the valley is also suggestive of the nefarious agenda of such forces as want to demean and divide the voice of the people particularly the Muslims,” he said adding, “Unfortunately no powerful Muslim voice was allowed to surface on the political landscape of India, what is happening in Kashmir cannot be singled out. Sher e Kashmir had prophesized that after his death, the one man political out fits will be propped up in the every nook and corner of the state. The main agenda of the right wing extremists is to eliminate the powerful voice of the Muslims in the state.”

Party president said the people of the state have to make a choice now. “On one hand we have NC that has historically lent sacrifices for the protection of the identity of the state. And on the other hand we have contemporary Bakshi’s and Sadiq’s who are adding colors to the nefarious designs of the forces as are inimical to our state. The need of the hour requires us to show unity. We should not let ourselves get overwhelmed by the prejudices of cast, creed, sect etc,” he said adding, “Today the people of the state have to vote for securing our identity and integrity in the ensuing assembly elections. Our vote will make difference. Each vote matters, and any boycott will aggravate the problems our state is beset with. In the coming elections, people of the state have to reveal how passionate they are about their unique identity. In these difficult times we should repose our trust in Almighty. Only He will salvage us from the tumultuous times we are going through.”

Among others party’s general secretary Haji Ali Muhammad Sagar, Provincial president Nasir Aslam Wani, political advisor to president Mushtaq Guroo were also present on the occasion.

Mehbooba Mufti’s statement on protecting State’s identity, a travesty of history: Sagar

Says if people had trusted her to defend state’s identity, she wouldn’t have come third in the Parliament elections

Srinagar, Jul 28 : Jammu and Kashmir National Conference on Sunday express amusement over the recent statement of Mehbooba Mufti on protecting State’s identity as travesty of History, saying that it was her who sowed what the people are reaping now.

Party general secretary Haji Ali Muhammad Sagar said the remarks of Mehbooba Mufti on the protection of state’s identity mock the miseries of people which she unleashed on them during her reign in power. “The undertakings of Mehbooba Mufti on the protection of state’s identity are scornful. We didn’t see her protect the identity of the state when she rolled back the order of hoisting state flag on government vehicles. Why didn’t she protect the unique identity of our state when the state’s unique constitutional identity was questioned by her former coalition partner in Supreme Court? What good was left in the name of our fiscal autonomy was obliterated during her reign. She was the one who crawled before BJP, when she was just told to bend. It was she who sacrificed the very fiscal autonomy of the state before BJP to ascend the altar of power. When in power she opened the flood gates of the state for BJP and RSS, and now she has the audacity to say that she will protect the states identity. People remember how she extended SARFAESI, GST, and NFSC to the state. She snatched the food from the plate of poor by implementing National Food Security Act in the state; she audaciously got GST implemented in the state pushing thousands of people associated with Handicrafts to duress. She took no time to implement SARFAESI act in the state. How can she protect the state’s identity now when she couldn’t do it when she was enjoying power with BJP?”

Sagar said Mehbooba stand no chance to absolve her from the torments she unleashed on the people of Kashmir. “Her assertions look like post dated cheques of a crumbling bank. Had PDP president and the Ex-Chief minister shed tears when our youth were devoured upon in 2016, it would have had any impact. One may inquire from her as to where was her concern for people when the people of Kashmir were subjected to worst of human rights violations. It was during her tenure that people were used as human shield; where her sympathy and empathy was for those who were blinded, bruised during her tenure. People are a good judge of her character and her stint in power,” he said.

Sagar said when enjoying power with BJP she had no concern for state’s identity, “The detailed response of the state government to be filled in the Supreme Court on the issue of Art 35-A never got her approval. She had shelved it to save her government. Moreover no gimmickry can help her gain the confidence of people. She has lost it for all times. If people had trusted her to defend state’s identity she wouldn’t have come third in the parliament elections. She stands no chance,” he said.

“When enjoying the benefits of power, she had bolted her mouth. People who had voted for her, and reposed their faith in her were dejected by her changed outlook. People still remember how sordidly she mocked the death and misery of hundreds of families who had to shoulder the coffins of their beloved, with her ‘Milk Toffee’ remarks. People remember how appallingly she had asserted that the guns of security forces aren’t for display but action. She shamelessly stuck to her chair when the youth who had voted for her were being fired at. She didn’t have the gumption to bid good bye to BJP when scores of our youth, and elderly were being blinded and maimed. On the contrary she barefacedly presided over the relentless miseries of people. How can people forget her treachery and political duplicity? People across the state particularly in Kashmir are bidding goodbye to PDP’s brand of politics, which is based on duplicity, crude lies and political Shenanigans. Mehbooba is herself admitting the fact that people of the state, in particular her workers are disgruntled with her. PDP is a spent force, it never was any; the edifice of PDP has stumbled down under the weight of its own deceit and falsehood,” he said adding, “had BJP not pulled her chair she would have been sitting with them until now. Today we see Mehbooba Ji taking pledges for the protection of state’s special status. How can she assume that she can fool people all the time? If she thinks on these lines then she is surely living in a fool’s paradise.”

At Kashmir hospitals patients not treated with dignity, respect: DAK

0

Srinagar, Jul 28 : Doctors Association Kashmir (DAK) on Sunday said patients at Kashmir hospitals are not treated with dignity and respect.

“Patients feel alienated by the non-committal attitude and professional distance they encounter at hospitals in Kashmir,” said DAK President Dr Nisar ul Hassan.

“Failure to take into account patients’ concerns and expectations, lack of warmth and friendliness on part of doctors leave patients dissatisfied,” he said.

“Patients recover their health simply through their contentment with the goodness of a physician,” he added.

“Kind words, compassion and empathy have equal hand in cure as much as medical competence does. But this need is often not met,” Dr Nisar said.

He said patients are not treated with courtesy and doctors do not spend time in talking, listening and more importantly hearing them.

Dr Nisar said there are reported observations of doctors avoiding discussion on emotional and social impact of patients’ problems which adversely affects their recovery.

“You might have healed their physical illness, but hurt in their feelings by the interpersonal treatment they receive, Dr Nisar said adding that any treatment can be undone in just a few moments by the physician’s wrong attitude.”

He said in the past, hospitals were looked as most trusted friends, but there has been a steep decline in positive feelings about hospitals.

“Long wait times for consultations and long delays in procedures are provoking and frustrating for patients. They are left uncared for most of the time and attendants are forced to take care of their patients which otherwise is the duty of hospital staff,” Dr Nisar said.

He said hospital environment is uncomfortable and distressing which is pushing patients in despair.

“Uncleanliness, poor food and noisy environment are adding to the woes of patients. There is no privacy in wards which makes patients uncomfortable and communication difficult between patients and doctors,” said Dr Nisar.

Modi govt diluted RTI to make information commission a toothless body: Monga

0

Srinagar, Jul 28 : Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPC) Vice President and former MLC G N Monga today termed the RTI Act amendment by Nadrendra Modi government as a blow to freedom of speech and expression.

In a statement issued, he said, Modi government diluted the RTI to make information commission a toothless body. “It is a very unfortunate for all citizens of the country, who felt very empowered by this legislation. By bringing the amendments, the central government has effectively asserted its control over the Information Commission,” he rued.

“It is a very dark day for those who value transparency, accountability and a democratic way of working in our country. This particular step has been really a blow to peoples fundamental right to speech and freedom of expression,” Monga said.

By the amendment, the Center government not just has tamed the CIC and RTI Act, but completely finished it. “The amendment has ended commissioners’ independence and turned them into glorified clerks. Their tenure will be at the government’s pleasure. Citizens should strongly oppose these amendments,” the Congress leader said.

Under Modi government decimation of Constitutional institutions like the Supreme Court, CBI, RBI, and Election Commission among others happened and now the Information Commission has been made target.
