DODA,MAY 22: In connection to review the progress under ongoing education reform project launched by district administration, under tagline zimedari, DDC Doda Dr Sagar D Doifode today paid a surprise visit in GOVT HR Sec School Jangalwar.

During the visit DDC Doda had an extensive tour of whole school building,interacted with the students of the respective school and enquired about the basic facilities provided to them.

DDC showed overall satisfaction in the functioning of school and about the quality of education and learning environment being provided to them by the school faculty and desired the same to be continued and ensured that more reforms will be initiated in future also to make the future of students bright and successful.

Moreover DDC Doda also informed the school faculty in coming days grading system will be started across the district.

DDC Doda holds Public outreach programme at Jangalwar

DODA, MAY 22- The District Development Commissioner Doda, Dr Sagar D Doifode today held Public Outreach Programme at Jangalwar Sub Division Thathri to listen the grievances of the public.

Grievances pertaining to Degree College, impure Water facility, Bad Road Connectivity,in adequate Healthcare facility, upgradation of present phc’s, shortage of staff in schools, education and in Revenue department,non functioning of Anganwadi centres under ICDS, less awareness programs conducted by agriculture, horticulture, animal and sheep husbandary,issue of delay payment in Rural Development, restoration of old khuls under Flood Control & Irrigation and other public grievances were discussed threadbare in the programme.

The DDC directed the ZEO Thathri for rationalisation of teaching staff in those schools where there is high enrollment and less staff, besides asked to provide nutritional food in mid day meal. He directed the CDPO to conduct visits in all the centre’s to ensure whether they are functioning on daily basis. He also directed BMO Thathri to conduct healthcare related awareness camps on regular basis like eye camp,free medical checkups etc.

Besides Ex En PMGSY are also strictly directed to start the widening of road from thathri to phagsoo on priority basis without any further delay,and SDM Thathri has been asked for daily reporting in this regard.

Moreover DDC directed the officials of irrigation and flood control to restore all the khuls and made them functional permanently,so that locals can avail the benefit of irrigation for various purposes.

Other officials who were present during the DDC visit are SDM Thathri, Tehsildar phagsoo, BDO Thathri, BMO Thathri besides the officials of other department’s.

Lok Sabha Election Results: Three-Ring security at counting centres tomorrow

Srinagar, May 22 : Elaborate security arrangements have been made in Jammu and Kashmir for counting of votes tomorrow for six Lok Sabha seats.

One of the top government officials told that security personnel including central reserve police forces (CRPF) and state police will be deployed tomorrow in all the counting centres for ensuring smooth and violence-free counting. “There will be a three tier security cordon in the vicinity of the counting centers. The first line of security manned by the Security forces will be located almost 100 meters from the concerned counting premises. The second line of security will be around the counting premises and the third line of security personnel will be deployed inside the counting halls. The counting centers will follow three-tier cordoning system,” the official maintained wished not to be named.

Giving details about arrangements being made for counting, official further said that 10 counting centers have been established in the state.

While there will be one counting center each for Baramulla, Anantnag, Srinagar, Jammu and Udhmapur parliamentary seats, two centers have been established for Ladakh segment, one each in Kargil and Leh.

Apart from them, three centers have also been established for counting of migrant votes at Udhampur, Jammu and New Delhi.

They said that 90 counting halls have been set up in these centers. “There will be 896 counting tables in these halls,”

Sources said that no person other than candidates, their election counting agents, public servants on election duty or persons authorized by Election Commission would be permitted to enter counting centers. Counting will be done simultaneously for all the six seats Jammu, Srinagar, Udhampur, Anantnag, Baramullah and Ladakh.

Sources said that to avoid any untoward incidents prohibitory orders under section 144 of Cr. P.C. will be also been enforced at the counting centers.

Chief Electoral Officer (CEO), Shalindera Kumar said, “As per the ECI guidelines, all arrangements have been made for the Counting Day,”

Sources said that the whole process will be monitored by General Observers and each of them will be accompanied by Micro observers.

The outcome of the six Lok Sabha seats is being keenly watched in J&K as it is considered as “semi-final” before the Assembly polls. (KNS) 

92 Bn CRPF distributes wheel chairs to disabled sisters in Wadoora Sopore

Sopore, May 23 : As a sign of relief especially in this holly month of Ramadhan, a 92 BN Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) distributed wheelchairs to disabled two sisters at Wadoora in north Kashmir’s Sopore.

92 Battalion of Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) organized a function at its headquarters on Wednesday for distribution of wheelchairs to two sisters of Wadoora village of Sopore who are disabled since born.

The function was attended by DIG north range R. K Yadev, CO 92 Battalion Dipak Kumar besides other officials were present on the occasion.

Meanwhile DIG CRPF north range R. K Yadev told media that through our “Madadgar service” we came to know about these two sisters who are disabled and are unable to move from one place to another, DIG said that soon after we came to know our CO of 92 Battalion worked on this and today we provided wheelchairs to two sisters of Ghulam Rasool Wagay of Wadoora who now will be able to move easily from place to place. Officer said that through this initiative CRPF had earlier also provided support to many poor families and in future will continue support to the poor families.


Commanding officer of 92 Bn CRPF Dipak Kumar on the occasion said that our motive behind this initiative is such deserving should be helped. he said that all of us have the responsibility to help them and give them a better place to live in the society.

NIA Files Charge Sheet against attempt of attack on Police party near TRC

​ NIA, today (22.5.2019) filed the Charge Sheet in Case no. RC-37/2018/NIA/DLI, which relates to an attempt to carry out attack on a Police Party at TRC(Tourist Reception Centre), Srinagar, J&K on 24th Nov 2018 by militants belonging to Islamic State of Jammu and Kashmir(ISJK).

Initially, a case FIR No. 93/2018 dated 24-11-2018 was registered by J&K Police at PS Kothibagh, Srinagar. Accused persons namely (i) Tahir Ahmad Khan s/o Ali Mohd Khan R/o Chandrigam Tral, Pulwama, (ii) Haris Mushtaq Khan s/o Mushtaq Ahmad Khan R/o Wathura, Budgam and (iii) Asif Suhail Nadaf s/o Latief Ahmad R/o Rainawari, Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir, had been arrested by local police immediately after the incident.

During their search, two pistols, fourteen live rounds and three hand grenades were recovered from their possession along with an ISIS flag. The case was subsequently taken over by NIA for investigation as RC-37/2018/NIA/DLI dated 13.12.2018.

2.​ During investigation by NIA, accused Asif Majid Khan s/o Ab. Majid Khan R/o Deviangan, Sangeen Darwaja, Hawal, Srinagar was arrested on 25.12.2018. He was involved in harbouring the other co-accused persons. One illegal12 bore single barrel gun without number and two KF-12 cartridges were recovered on his disclosure.

3.​ Investigation further revealed that accused persons namely (i) Tahir Ahmad Khan (ii) Haris Mushtaq Khan and (iii) Asif Suhail Nadaf were active cadres of Islamic State Jammu & Kashmir (ISJK), a Kashmir based terrorist affiliate of proscribed International terrorist organisation ISIS. Investigation unearthed a larger conspiracy of these terrorist elements propagating Pan-Islamic ideology of ISIS by recruiting and radicalising Kashmiri youth towards Jihad and targeting security forces.

4.​ It was also revealed that three other accused persons in the case namely Ishfaq Ahmad Sofi @ Abdullah, Pervez Ahmad Bhat @ Khubaib @ Haider and Asif Nazir Dar @ Anwar were killed during different encounters that took place between the ISJK cadres and security forces across the Kashmir valley.

5.​ The Charge-Sheet has been filed in the Special NIA Court, Jammu against available accused persons namely (i) Tahir Ahmad Khan, (ii) Haris Mushtaq Khan, (iii) Asif Suhail Nadaf and (iv) Asif Majid Khan u/s 120B, 34 r/w section 307 RPC, sections 18, 19, 20 and 38 of the UA(P) Act, Section 4 of the Explosive Substances Act and Section 7, 25 of the Arms Act.

Edu Institutions in B’la Town to remain closed on May 23: DC

Baramulla, May 22: According to Deputy Commissioner Baramulla, all the educational institutions including Degree Colleges and ITI in Baramulla Town shall remain closed tomorrow on May 23.

The order has been issued to ensure hassle free counting of votes scheduled on May 23.

Two Girls Die, Another Injured Under Mudslide In Sopore Village

Sopore, May 22 : Two girls died while another one was injured critically after they came under a mudslide at Hardi Shiva area of Sopore in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Tuesday.


Reports reaching GNS said the girls who were passing through the Reshipora Hardshiva area when suddenly mudslide hit them and injured all of them critically.

However, all the injured were evacuated by locals and passersby to Sub District hospital Sopore where doctors declared two of them brought dead while admitted another, they said.

Block Medical Officer (BMO) Sopore Mohammad Sami confirmed to GNS two girls were brought dead another has been referred to Srinagar for special treatment.

The BMO identified the deceased girls as Shoki daughter of Mohammad Ashraf Wagay daughter of Mohd Ashraf Wagay of Wadoora, Shahista Farooq Rather daughter of Farooq Ahmed Rather of Hardshiva.

The injured has been identified as Sabreena, the sister of Shoki one of the deceased girls.

SSP Sopore Javeed Iqbal told GNS that we are investigating the incident.

Investigations are underway and further would be shared accordingly, SSP said. (GNS)

ADDC Shopian inaugurates cricket tournament in Shopian .

Shopian 22 May: Additional District Development Commissioner Mohd Saleem Malik  Shopian today inaugurated Cricket tournament organized by Jammu and Kashmir cricket Association at Sports Stadium here.

96 teams of the district are participating in the tournament,

Speaking on the occasion, ADDC said that the purpose of organizing such events is to nourish the sports talent besides developing team spirit among the youth. He said that Shopian is very fertile place both in education and Sports. He advised the youth to take part in the sports activities so that they can prove their mettle in State and national level sports.

Forces launch search operation in Kreeri Baramulla

Kreeri, May 22 : Government forces on Tuesday evening launched a cordon and search operation in Kreeri village of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district.

Reports reaching Kashmir Despatch said a joint team of Army’s 52 RR, 176 bn CRPF and SOG Kreeri laid a siege at Saloosa Kreeri in north Kashmir and conducted house to house search operation in the area.

A police officer also confirmed this cordon and search operation and said following suspecious movement searches were launched in the area.

BDO Sopore caught red handed accepting bribe by Anti Corruption Bureau

Srinagar: Block Development Officer, Sopore on Wednesday was caught red handed accepting bribe.

“Today 22nd of May-2019 a written complaint was lodged with Anti-Corruption Bureau (North Kashmir), by a daily wage worker in Block Sopore who alleged that Block Development officer Sopore, namely Ab. Rashid Ahanger demands bribe for releasing their wages,” an official statement said.

On this complaint a Case FIR No. 09/2019 under section 5(2) J&K P.C Act Svt; 2006, 4-A Amendment Act- 2014 has been registered and investigation taken up.

During the course of investigation, a successful trap team was constituted under the supervision of DySP Sajad Ahmad who laid a successful trap and the said Block Development Officer was caught red handed while demanding and accepting the bribe from the complainant. Further investigation into the case is going on.
