The Police statement said a missing report was lodged by Bashir Ahmad resident of Hygam reported Police Post Putkha that his wife Jabeena Begum aged 30 years is missing from 08 May 2019.


In this regard, a missing report was lodged Police Post Putkha and search to trace out the missing lady has been started.

Minor drowned while crossing footbridge in JK’s Doda

Doda (JK), May 11 (PTI) A 12-year-old boy, who was returning home from his school, drowned after he fell into a stream while crossing a wooden footbridge in this hilly district of Jammu and Kashmir, officials said on Saturday.

Farman Ali, a resident of Bhatoli-Bhalessa village, was a Class 2 student, they said. 

They said the body was fished out by the locals after other boys raised an alarm. 

“Due to rain, the wooden bridge, which had no side railing, had become slippery. At the middle of the bridge, he lost control on the slippery log and fell into the water,” the officials said quoting the eye-witnesses.

Venomous snake found near Omar Abdullah’s residence

Srinagar, May 11 : An extreme venomous snake gave security personnel anxious moments when it was spotted on the lawns of former Chief Minister and National Conference vice president Omar Abdullah’s official residence here, officials said on Saturday.

Official sources told GNS a team from the wildlife department was deputed to the residence who caught the snake on Thursday.

“A Wildlife SOS team in Srinagar rescued the highly dangerous snake, spotted at Omar Abdullah’s residence on May 9 and it was released in Dachigam,” they said.

“The Viper, locally called ‘Gunas’ is extremely venomous,” they said, adding, “The snake was rescued by rescuer Aliya Mir.”

Pertinently, in 2017, a cobra was found at the residence of former Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti in Jammu. (GNS)

‘Paper leaked on social media 17 hours before exam in Kulgam’

Srinagar: In a bizarre incident, question paper of English BG 2nd semester was shared on social media in Kulgam 17 hours prior to the scheduled timing of exams.

The exam was scheduled at 3pm on May 09, however students alleged that question paper was available on social media from May 08.

The students said that the same question paper was distributed among examinees in the examination hall.

Sheikh Mujtaba, a student of government degree college kulgam said he received question paper on May 08 on WhatsApp from a friend.

“He is not a student of 2nd semester but had got the paper,” he said.
HOD English department in degree college Kulgam Manzoor Ahmad confirmed that A series of English paper was leaked hours before examination.

“We informed the controller examination on time and he assured he will look into the matter,” he said.

Principal GDC Kulgam A. R.Najar he also confirmed that paper was leaked hours before commencement of examination.

Controller examination in university of Kashmir Farooq Ahmad feigned ignorance about the incident.

“Nobody informed me about the matter, however i will look into the matter,” he said.

Cricketer-turned-politician Gautam Gambhir has said if charges against him are proved, he will hang himself in public.

Gambhir’s remarks came  a day after the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) accused him of being involved in the distribution of “obscene and derogatory” pamphlets against Atishi,

Taking to Twitter on Friday, the BJP’s East Delhi candidate, Gautam Gambhir, dared Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal to prove charges against him or quit.

Gautam Gambhir, in a series of tweets, said he is “ashamed” to have Arvind Kejriwal as chief minister and he would withdraw his candidature if the charge against him is proved.

He also said he would file a defamation case against Aam Aadmi Party leaders for tarnishing his image. “You can’t tarnish someone’s image without proof. I have never given a negative statement against any opposition candidate in my election campaigning,” he said in a press statement.

Gambhir wrote on Twitter, “I abhor your act of outraging a woman’s modesty @ArvindKejriwal and that too your own colleague. And all this for winning elections? U r filth Mr CM and someone needs ur very own jhaadu to clean ur dirty mind(sic).”
“My Challenge no.2 @ArvindKejriwal @AtishiAAP I declare that if its proven that I did it, I will withdraw my candidature right now. If not, will u quit politics?(sic)” he said in another tweet.

Atishi on Friday once again slammed Gautam Gambhir for failing to condemn the “sickening” note.

“If he [Arvind Kejriwal] can prove that I have anything to do with this pamphlet filth, then I will hang myself in public. Otherwise @ArvindKejriwal should quit politics. Accepted?” Gautam Gambhir tweeted.

16 passengers injured in Jammu road mishap

Srinagar: Around 16 passengers sustained injuries, after a vehicle met with an accident on highway at Jaggar Kotli, Udhampur.

A police official said that five passengers have sustained serious injuries.

“Accident took place at 11:50 am when a passenger vehicle bearing registration number (JK02AP 0039) was on way from Udhampur to Jammu and hit a roadside parked truck ,” the police official said.

The police official said all the injured were shifted to GMC Jammu for treatment. 

Fresh landslides disrupt traffic movement on Srinagar Jammu highway

Srinagar: The Srinagar-Jammu highway remained closed on Saturday due to the fresh landslides at various places on the thoroughfare.

An official said that earlier landslides were cleared and traffic was resumed, but shortly shooting stones and landslides occurred near Digdole in Ramban, forcing thousands of the vehicles to get stranded on the highway.

However, the official said that men and machinery are on the job to clear the debris on the road.

55 year old man injured in bear attack in Handwara

Handwara, May 11 : A 55 year old man was injured on Saturday after a wild bear attacked him in Handwara village of Kupwara district.

Reports reaching Kashmir Despatch said
a 55-year-old man identified as Ghulam Ahmed Bhat son of Abdul Wahab Bhat a resident of Shahnagri Mawer was attacked by a wild bear on Saturday afternoon, resulting into his injuries.

Bhat was later shifted to District Hospital Handwara for specialized treatment.

Meanwhile police took cognizance of this incident.

Forces launch CASO in Panzgam Pulwama

Government forces on Saturday morning launched a cordon and search operation (CASO) in Panzgam village of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district.

Police sources told that the search operation was launched on the basis of specific inputs about the presence of militants in the area.

They said joint team of forces including 55 RR launched a cordon and search operation in the area.

Locals said a contingent of government forces were deployed in the area and search operation was going on when the last reports came in.

Police recovers dead body from Jhelum in Srinagar

Police on Saturday recovered a male dead body from river Jhelum at Parimpora in capital city Srinagar.

An official said police party from police station Parimpora visited the spot after receiving information about the dead body.

Officer said that the body was recovered and shifted to hospital for post-mortem examination.

The identification of the deceased is yet to be done, official added.
