Broken down truck creates massive traffic jam on Sgr-Bla highway

BARAMULLA, Feb 6: A truck had got stuck on Railway Bridge Pattan resulting in massive traffic jam on Srinagar Baramulla highway.

The truck has now been removed manually as the recovery crane could not reach to the spot.

Reports said that after truck got stuck most of the passengers were seen marching on foot in both the directions of the highway.

However latest reports suggest that the traffic is now moving in both directions but at a snails pace.

Pertinently Kashmir valley on Wednesday received a fresh spell of snowfall while rains lash Jammu city.

Sad that Gov Malik is taking sides, to save culprits: Mehbooba

Srinagar, Feb 06 : Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) president and former Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti today said Kashmir is a political issue and can’t be resolved through military might.
Mufti said instead of taking cognizance of the brutality army unleashed on a youth, governor is diverting the issue by giving political sermons.
In a series of tweets, Mehbooba said, “Kashmir is a political issue and can’t be resolved through military power. Army men hailed as heroes for their bravery also need to be held accountable if they commit human rights violations. So please lets call a spade a spade instead of accusing us of demonising the army. I have also spoken to the Core Commander to take note of this incident.”
“Instead of taking cognizance of the brutality that the young boy has been subjected to , and ordering action against the culprits , it is sad that the honourable governor is talking politics instead. Saddened to see the constitutional authorities taking sides so brazenly,” said Mehbooba in another tweet. (KNS) 

Mehbooba’s party is falling apart, don’t take her serious: Governor Malik

Srinagar, Feb 06 : Jammu and Kashmir Governor Satya Pal Malik today said the remarks of former chief minister Mehbooba Mufti questioning the security forces will not discourage or deter the enthusiasm of our forces operating in Jammu and Kashmir.
The Governor while sharply reacting to the remarks of Mehbooba Mufti wherein she had questioned the functioning of army major Shukla in Pulwama district. 
Mufti had said “I have heard about Major Shukla’s bravery, but it is not bravery when you cal children at your camp and beat them ruthlessly”. 
The Governor said that this is the election time and Mehbooba Mufti’s party is disintegrating like anything. 
“She can say anything to garner support to win the election. There is no need to take her seriously. Our security forces do not need any moral support from people like Mehbooba Mufti,” he said.
“Chunaav ka waqt hai, unki party toot rahi hai, kharab haal mein hai. Wo isi kism ke support se taakat mein aayi thi, unko seriously lene ki zarurat nahi. Humare suraksha balon ka kisi Mehbooba Mufti ji ke bayan se manobal nahi girne diya jayega,” Governor added. (KNS) 

Governor must care of retaining sanctity of his office: PDP

SRINAGAR, FEB 06 : People’s Democratic Party reacting to remarks of J&K Governor said that it’s ironic that the Governor is unreasonably exceeding his jurisdiction by commenting on the political scenario and issuing defamatory statements against a party.

PDP’s Chief Spokesperson Rafi Ahmad Mir said that “Governor Sahib is unreasonably interfering in politics of Kashmir and influencing the elections and the electorate against PDP, it speaks volumes about his integrity and the leftover sanctity of the office he holds.

Mir said that it is unfortunate that instead of taking note of unabated human rights violations in Kashmir, Governor is meddling in political affairs of parties, in blatant violation of Constitution.

Mir said we hope that the sanctity of the Raj Bhavan is restored and the Constitution becomes the only guiding principle, we hope Governor desists influencing J&K’s politics in future by not exceeding his jurisdiction.  

Killings won’t resolve Kashmir issue:  NC leader

SRINAGAR, FEB 06 : National Conference leader and former MLA from Ganderbal Sheikh Ishfaq Jabbar said that killings won’t resolve Kashmir.

While speaking to News agency Press Trust of Kashmir regarding beating of a youth by army in South Kashmir Ishfaq Jabbar said “Through gun Kashmir issue can’t be resolved. It is unfortunate and condemnable that Army is doing such shameful acts”.

He added that National conference wants peaceful resolution of Kashmir issue between both India and Pakistan and other stakeholders. He said they should talk to each other and find a solution of Kashmir issue.

He added that by militarising Kashmir they can’t achieve anything. “They even don’t care about the common people of Kashmir. The present government of India treats Kashmiri as Militants”, he said.      

Jabbar further added “BJP and RSS want to kill people of Kashmir for vote bank on the name  and  playing Kashmir card for upcoming elections”.              

Ishfaq Jabbar further added “Kashmir is a political issue and has to be resolved politically as per the wishes and aspirations of the people. Military solutions can’t be used to resolve a political problem. The government in New Delhi should acknowledge the adverse implications of the status quo in Kashmir”.

“All the mainstreams parties should come together and find a way to solve Kashmir issue”. Jabbar added.  The situation is turning from b to worse. There is acute shortage of essential commodities especially medicines in the Valley.

He added “unless the root cause of the problem, which is Kashmir issue can’t be solved, the situation won’t improve”.

Reacted to the remarks of Prime Minister Narendra Modi that they “will break the back of militancy in Kashmir”, Ishfaq Jabbar said “national conference has been consistently emphasizing that violence is not an answer to the unrest in Kashmir as it only leads to death and destruction.

He added “RSS and BJP don’t want people of Kashmir”.  (PTK)

Delegation of Doctors Association Jammu meets Governor

Jammu, Feb 6 : A delegation of Doctors Association Jammu, led by its President Dr. Balvinder Singh, met Governor Satya Pal Malik at the Raj Bhavan here today.

The delegation requested Governor that offence  against On duty doctors or damage to hospital infrastructure may be made a non-bail able offence, provision for creation of hospital security force for safety and security of doctors and hospital property; caderisation of Medical Officers into Medical Officer, senior Medical Officer and supervising/Head Medical officer;caderisation of consultants into consultants, senior consultants and chief consultants; positioning of one chief consultant, two senior consultants and one consultant in every district hospital; salary of doctors as per working hours; financial and other incentives to doctors working in far-flung areas; installation of MRI machines and latest equipment for blood investigations at all district hospitals; expediting the process for identifying hard and difficult areas for selection in PG courses and the need for formulating a clear transfer policy.

Governor assured the Delegation appropriate consideration of its demands and urged them to work dedicatedly towards improving health care system in the  State.

Chairman BOPEE meets Governor

Jammu, Feb 6 : Mohd. Ashraf Bukhari, Chairman, Jammu and Kashmir Board of Professional Entrance Examinations (BOPEE), met Governor Satya Pal Malik at the Raj Bhavan here today.

Bukhari briefed Governor about the functioning of the Board, the schedule of conduct of Entrance Tests and process of making selection of candidates for admission to various undergraduate and postgraduate professional courses in the State. 

Governor emphasized maintenance of high standards of professionalism in the conduct of examinations and emphasized optimum use of new technologies to bring about more efficiency, transparency and speed in organising Entrance Tests and in carrying out subsequent admission processes.

JeM claims grenade attack on CRPF camp in Kulgam

Srinagar, Feb 6:  Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) has claimed the grenade attack on a CRPF camp at Laroo area of south Kashmir’s Kulgam district on Wednesday.

A JeM spokesperson Mohammad Hassan in a statement issued to GNS said the grenade went off inside the CRPF’s 18 bn camp.

He said several forces personnel were wounded in the attack that was part of the ‘Operation Noor Mohammad Trali’. (GNS)

Amid snow, government forces lay siege to Hajjin village

Bandipora, Feb 06 : Amid heavy snowfall, government forces launched a cordon and search operation at Hajjin village of nouthern Kashmir’s Bandipora district.


Reports said a joint team of army’s 13 RR, SOG and CRPF launched a CASO in Gaziabad Hakbara area of Hajin village.


Local reports said that all exit and entry points were sealed as heavy contingent of forces laid siege to the village and conducted door to door searches in the area despite the snowfall.


An official said that the CASO was launched following inputs about the presence of militants in the area.
