Governor’s remarks against Mehbooba prove that anti-India sentiment is strong on the ground : Er. Rasheed

0

Kupwara 06 February: Reacting to Governor Satpal Malik’s statement that Mehbooba Mufti’s speaking about atrocities of security forces is an attempt to regain her last ground and come again to power, AIP President Er. Rasheed has said that Governor’s statement is a confession that the anti-India sentiment is very much deep rooted and New Delhi’s own people can’t survive by openly supporting its aggression. In a statement issued today, Er. Rasheed said “While Governor is crossing his constitutional and moral domain by criticizing political parties, but his statements often expose the harsh ground realities. It is not job of the Governor to ask PDP, NC or someone else to dictate what to say and what not, however regional parties should take a lesson from Governor’s continuous political statements and understand that when New Delhi needs Kashmiris it doesn’t hesitate begging before them but once its purpose is served they are thrown to dustbin. If Governor himself feels that Mehbooba Mufti has to use anti-India posturing and speak about security forces, then it should not be difficult for anyone to understand that not only militants but pro-resistance leaders are enjoying mass support. It is shameful that rather ordering an enquiry into the brutal assault against Tawseef Ahmad Wani a youth from Pulwama by Major Shukhla of 44RR, Governor has tried to divert the attention by taking jibe at Mehbooba Mufti  and has also down played the incident, which is shameful”. Er. Rasheed added that what Mehbooba Mufti and Omer Abdullah are facing today at the hands of New Delhi, even Kuka Parray, the renowned counterinsurgent, would have also faced the same heat, allegations and humiliation at the hands of New Delhi, had he been alive. He said “New Delhi has been using people and throwing them and has a record of fake and broken promises. Mehbooba Mufti must herself introspect and find the answers that those who were praising her till yesterday are now giving her humiliating sermons only to ensure that atrocities on Kashmiris are not taken seriously by anyone. However Governor needs to know that by giving cover up to atrocities on innocent Kashmiris, he is just proving the Himalayan fact that for New Delhi every Kashmiri whosoever he may be is of doubtful integrity”.

The incident happened last week in Kumb, a town in Khairpur district. The unidentified assailants fled the after vandalism.

Khan Tuesday night took to Twitter to call upon the provincial authorities to take swift action against the culprits.

“The govt of Sindh must take swift and decisive action against the perpetrators. This is against the teachings of the Quran,” Khan said.

The community has approached the police to register a case against unidentified persons.

There was no caretaker at the temple because the community felt that it was safe enough, since it was surrounded by their houses.

After the incident, the Hindus in the area held a protest in the city, Samaa TV reported.

Rajesh Kumar Hardasani, the adviser of the Pakistan Hindu Council, has demanded the formation of a special task force for the security of Hindu temples.

“This action has caused unrest among the Hindu community. These types of attacks are done in an attempt to disturb religious harmony across the country,” he said.

Police said that they were hunting for the attackers but so far no arrest was made. Nobody or group took responsibility of the attack.

Hindus form almost two per cent of the 220 million population in Muslim-majority Pakistan. Most of the Hindus live in Sindh province.

They often complain of harassment by the extremists.

KD NEWS SERVICE

SRINAGAR, Feb 6: The tussle between Mayor and Deputy Mayor has virtually turned the City into a cesspool as the heaps of garbage could be seen scattered in almost all the localities within the municipal limits in Srinagar.

Sources in Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC) told Kashmir Despatch that over 1000 Metric Tons of garbage is lying speckled mainly on road sides in Srinagar as the employees of SMC are on two day strike.

“The Mayor and Deputy Mayor have no time to attend to the basic problems faced by the people especially sanitation issues. The normal work in SMC has been paralyzed by the power struggle of the Mayor and Deputy mayor coupled with the employees’ agitation,” a top officer of the SMC told Kashmir Despatch on the condition of anonymity.

Official sources in sanitation section of SMC revealed that          approximately around 500 Metric Tons of solid wastes are recovered from Srinagar on daily basis. “Since the employees of SMC on are two day strike, around 1000 Metric Tons of garbage mainly solid wastes lie scattered in different colonies of Srinagar,” sources told Kashmir Despatch.

Pertinently, the employees of SMC are on two-day strike protesting for redressal of their grievances. “There are around 400 employees who have been appointed by successive government in J&K who demand their regularization and salaries from internal resources. These employees are supported by around 4500 other colleagues working in SMC. These all employees work in sanitation section of SMC. Since they are on strike and the Mayor and Deputy Mayor are busy in their trivial political tussle, the inhabitants of Srinagar city are forced to bear the brunt,” sources in the SMC revealed.

With heaps of trash in the streets, the residents of many colonies are up in arms against the functioning of the SMC particularly its Mayor and Deputy Mayor who are always seen engaged in verbal duel against each other.

“There is no regular cleaning of roads, streets and collection of municipal garbage. Garbage piles have turned the roads into stinking dump-yards,” said Waseem Ahmad a resident of Gangbug.

Piles of the garbage can be seen lying unattended on all the busy squares of the city including Lal Chowk, Jehangir Chowk, Batmaloo, Maisuma and Dalgate. Garbage from all the 35 Wards has not been lifted, sources told Kashmir Despatch.

At Clock Tower, foul smell emanating from the unattended pile of garbage is bothering both shopkeepers and passerby.  “This is the heart of the city and a prime location. SMC should lift the garbage from here,” Abdul Rashid a shopkeeper in Lal Chowk said.

It is pertinent to mention here that SMC has been gripped by allegations and counter allegations ever since the Corporator, Shaheena Bhat, accused SMC Mayor of sexual harassment.  The Mayor has termed the charges as ‘baseless’.

However, the employees of the SMC said they have nothing to do with the political infighting between Mayor and Deputy Mayor and want SMC to function the way it was before the municipal elections.

Residents in many colonies of Srinagar like Shah Anwar Colony, Baghat, Barzulla, Rambagh, Eidgah said that a power game between Mayor and his Deputy is taking a toll on the civic issues of the people in Srinagar.

“They have dragged the entire Srinagar city into their power game. People are suffering and they are fighting for power and funds. Instead of cleaning the roads their filthy relationship is turning the city dirtier,” said Showkat Ahmad, a resident of Budhsha Nagar.
