Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman Sunday watched the movie, “Uri: The Surgical Strike”, along with a group of war veterans at a cinema hall here.Live from Central Spirit Mall, Bellandur, Bengaluru, to watch Uri (finally) with veterans. #HighJosh! the Defence Minister tweeted.

She also posted a video of her entering the movie hall as the crowd present there chanted Bharat Mata Ki Jai, Vande Mataram, “How is the josh?”.

Finally finding time to watch it today 🙂 #HighJosh, the Defence Minister tweeted tagging actors Vicky Kaushal, Yami Gautam and the film’s director Aditya Dhar and producer Ronnie Screwvala.

Yes, #HighJosh, Sitharaman tweeted. The Defence Minister also obliged for selfies with children and public at the mall.

“How is the josh?” is the popular line from the movie, based on the 2016 Indian Army’s surgical strikes on terror launch pads in Pakistan as a retaliation for the Uri attack that claimed the lives of 17 army personnel.

Sitharaman had on January 16 met the cast and crew of the film on the occasion of Army Day.

Film’s stars Vicky Kaushal, Yami Gautam, director Aditya Dhar and producer Ronnie Screwvala were part of the meeting that took place at Army Chief General Bipin Rawat’s ‘at home’ function.(IANS)

Dhoni misses 3rd ODI with ‘rare’ injury

0

Former skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni missed out of Monday’s third ODI against New Zealand with a hamstring injury, making it only the third occasion when the veteran stumper was forced out of the playing XI.

At 37, Dhoni has been one of the fittest Indian cricketers of the current generation and very less often do fans witness an Indian line-up sans his name in white-ball cricket.

Interestingly, this is only the third time the Ranchi wicketkeeper-batsman has missed out with an injury.

The last time he was out of the playing XI was way back in 2013 when he missed three ODIs due to a hamstring injury in a tri-series in the West Indies.

While the first time, he missed out was 12 years ago when he was out of two ODIs against Ireland and South Africa in Belfast in 2007 due to viral fever.

On Monday, with India leading 2-0 in the five-match ODI rubber against the Kiwis, the talismanic stumper was once again troubled by his hamstring, which provided the men-in-blue with an opportunity to test out Dinesh Karthik behind the stumps.

With India slated to play a handful of international games ahead of the ICC World Cup in May and June, this experiment could come handy for Virat Kohli’s team, in case Dhoni picks a niggle or injury in the showpiece tournament in England and Wales.

Public exchequer looted as some employees who did no poll duty selected for month’s salary

0

Srinagar, Jan 27 : While government has announced to pay month’s salary to employees who performed election duty but it has come to fore that some employees have been selected among the beneficiaries who did nothing for poll related work.

“It is only to please and give benefit to those employees like I/C Administrative Secretary RDD etc etc,” Ghulam Rasool Mir, J&K Civil Secretariat Employees Coordination Committee Chairman Ghulam Rasool Mir said in a statement issued here to GNS.

“This is loot of State exchequer. It would have been better to release timely wages in favour of Casual Labours or Daily wagers who work day and night to serve public,” he said, and called it injustice.

“This is unfortunate state where favouritism is being encouraged and state exchequer is drained to benefit blue eyed and Influenced persons,” he said, adding, “We had great expectations from Governor and most Hardworking Chief Secretary but here it seems they are being mislead.”

The favouritism would never have been exhibited during such great administrators, he said.

“We were blaming politicians but same bad, more than that, is now happening when everything lies in the hands of bureaucracy.”

Most employees particularly Casual Labours and DRWs are suffering for salary and wages for the last many months and even for years, he said. “Here our authorities are enjoying double salary and special awards who did nothing special in their departments while Casual Labour is working hard even during winter season,” he said, adding, “Take a view of RDD or Housing and Urban developed department where mostly casual employees are without wages and some have been terminated because in the name of closure of schemes.”  (GNS)

Srinagar, Jan 27 : The DPC held by JKPSC for ETOs and STOs of Finance Department has raised some eyebrows as the proposal and minutes of DPC have been allegedly formulated in haste and gross violation of norms to adjust some blue eyed officials.

Sources revealed that the incumbency/chart roaster was not prepared while preparing such document which resulted in utilization of Direct recruitment vacancies for regularization of promotes.

Besides, they said, 30% leave/deputation/training reserve posts have been utilized for their regularisation in contrary to GAD’s repeated direction.

Some vacancies, source said, have been reserved in order to favour blue eyed candidates. Some SROs have been issued to give retrospective effects to benefit blue eyed candidates. Despite repeated requests by some agitated candidates, it has been learnt that Finance department was not providing copy of minutes/proposal. They said only a copy of regularisation order issued vide Govt order No 31 FD of 2019 dated 18-1-2019 has been made public.
