Baramulla, Mar 30:  The Director School Education Kashmir, Naseer Ahmad Wani on Monday said that authorities are taking decisive steps to address the chronic shortage of teachers and inadequate school infrastructure in border areas of Kashmir valley.

Speaking with the Kashmir Despatch, Naseer Ahmad Wani, highlighted that the rationalisation process of teachers is currently underway to ensure balanced staffing across schools particularly in border areas. “Wherever we identify a surplus of teachers in some schools and a shortage in others, transfers are being arranged. This process is ongoing, and we expect the problem to be resolved soon.”

“The development of school infrastructure is a continuous process. New buildings are being constructed, additional classrooms are being added, and separate washrooms for girls are being installed. Wherever gaps exist, we strive to address them as quickly as possible,” he added.

Responding to the queries of extra fee charges in private schools, he emphasised that a fees fixation committee regulates school fees. “If any parent feels that the school is charging excessively, they can approach the committee. Our focus should be on government schools, where books, uniforms, and meals are free, and teachers provide quality education,” he said.

He further stressed that government schools offer a holistic experience beyond academics, including sports and extracurricular activities, all scheduled in the annual academic calendar. Parent-teacher meetings are also being prioritised, with all Head of Institutions instructed to conduct sessions and incorporate parental feedback.
